Hello all,

I used to be a Brighthouse customer till i bought a HDTV 50" about 4 years ago. The reason being that i get better picture with the channels i watch most of. Sci-Fi, TNT USA ect. I really want to get a DVR/HD DVR and don't want to pay for the Tivo service. Really can't since i don't have a Telephone line. Still wouldn't pay for Tivo even if i did. I pay about $87 with D* w/HBO and Starz and $35 for Roadrunner. For those of you with HDTV's and brighthouse service, has the quality improved and what would the pricing be compared to what i have now. I am happy with D* with the quality picture i get but would really like to get the DVR/HD DVR. Help me make a decision with some pro's and con's. Thanks alot guys.

I pay $115. per month for this I get:

Roadrunner
1 DVR HD CABLE BOX
HD Premium Tier
Sport Pack
HBO
ShowTime

With the package I have I get every channel that BHN offers in HD, the picture on the HD channels on my Toshiba 52inch HDTV are Excellent.
I think the Standard Def Channels look like Crap, but that might be just in comparison to the HD channels looking so good. The only Programs I watch in non HD are Nip/Tuck and then all the Kids Shows i.e. Disney Channel, Nick and whatnots for the Kiddies. I think that over all it’s a good deal for the money with the alternatives available to me in Pinellas county at this time.

DVR works very well, just wish I could off load to a pc for storage (bring on Vista with Cable Card)!

Mine runs about 149.00 a month with

RR
three 8300hd dvr's
hd package
digital package with no movie channels

RR has been getting pretty slow lately I've noticed and it seems to be worse in the middle of the day (which is counterintuitive since a lot of people in my area have already switched too fios in the last year?)...I haven't investigated the cause yet so I can't say it's BHN's network for sure but it's starting to get VERY iritating and I will deffinantly go to FIOS as soon as the bastards run fiber down my street like they did every other street in my area nearly a year ago now. (and thats a whole other story).

Well I pay 212 bucks a month for TV and Internet service with taxes.

I have 3 HD DVR boxes (8300HD) and all premium movie channels and the HD Pak plus Road Runner 5Mbps service. I don't order any PPV or sports packages nor do I get digital phone service. My bill was about 240 bucks a month with digital phone service on a promo but once that would be bumped to almost 285/month I called and said I wanted the same promo for another year and they said no. So I told them to cancel the digital phone service (which is a high profit item) and they can take the loss now.
