Ordered DirecTV

OK. I must have money to burn (lol)...I ordered DirecTV just for the NFL package. I am keeping BHN and got the most basic DirecTV package. Also got the NFL Ticket and a HD DVR. Does everyone get the same HD DVR? Which model should I expect the installer to bring?

I am doing the same thing, I have D* just for the NFL package. I suspend my account from the end of last season to the beginning of the next season. And then I have the family package at 29.99 plus 10.00 credit for 12 months right now.

And yes, the HD DVR is the same for everyone as they only have one model. The HR20.

They have two versions of the HR20....the HR20-700 made by pace and the HR20-100 made by LG. You'll most like get the 100 because that's what's in stock right now.

I live in a condo and have BH basic as part of the dues. I am stuck.

Or so I thought.

I dropped all my digital services - including RoadRunner - and ordered DirecTV and if I bought the NFL package I get everything else free for four months.

I had a very good rep who told me that once I finish the four months I don't have to buy one of their packages which will be a lot of duplication of services on any of them. He told me that I am able to buy the sports and HD services and then purchase single stations at $1.95 each.

In the long run I get to save about $20-$40 a month (when I factor in RoadRunner vs. DSL) and then can get additional discounts once I do a one-bill through Verizon, my home phone service.

No fuss, no muss, just what I want.

Your very good rep did a very good job misinforming you. At this time, you have to have some kind of base package. The least inexpensive one is the Family package at 29.99. You can't drop everything and just get the sports and HD channels. And you certainly can't just purchase single stations at 1.95 each.

That's interesting. Any idea what the absolute bare bones package from BHN costs per month? I would like to keep something in case of storms...Also have a small TV in the nursery that the wife watches TV on when feeding the baby...seems overkill to have a satellite box on that TV! So wouldn't mind keeping some very basic cable if I decide to go DirecTV through the entire house. Right now it is just fed to the main TV in the family room.

You can get just the analog channels from 2- 20 for something like 18.00 or so. I wish I more for infor for you. I would just call the BHN CSR and ask them about it.

While spending better than a half-hour on the phone with this tech, he tried something and was able to start with the sports tier and build from there adding HD with other add-ons at $1.95.

Even if what he said was off base, I still come out ahead because of what BHN does NOT offer and likley won't until we are all pushing up daisies.

That is all fine and well with me.
