Well, I finally broke down and got the SA8300HD DVR about 10 days ago. Overall, I like it, but I've encountered a couple of annoyances I'd like to ask about.
Many times the DVR does not respond correctly to a FF button push; one push may get the second, third, or even the fourth speed. During FF, another push may return to Play mode, even from the first FF speed. I thought that maybe it was a "sticky" button on the remote, as I was not given a new remote with the box (had a Pace HD box previously) but I never had issues with the FF button while watching the occasional On Demand movie.
Scheduled recordings sometimes end a minute or two before the show ends. I don't think these are for shows that are known to "go long", but just normally-scheduled shows. I know I could take the extra steps to add a couple of minutes to the record end time, but this kinda defeats the easy "couple steps" method to schedule a recording from the guide.
Any known fixes for these problems? I looked through the sticky post "Official SA8300HD DVR Feedback - Post problems here" but didn't see these issues noted.
Thanks,
Jack
