HD DVR Problems

Anyone here having problems with their HD DVR/HD box when hooking them up using HDMI through a AV reciever that has HDMI switching built in. The problem i am having is that the 4:3 mode that i set to "strech" mode gets reset back to "off" mode when i turn off my reciever and HD DVR. I am using the harmony 880 to control my equipment. Here is a list of my equipment:

Harmony 880
Samsung HLS5687W
FiOS HD DVR
Yamaha RX-V661

FiOS HD DVR box and HD DVD A20 hooked up to Yamaha Reciever via HDMI and HDMI out to TV.

The only way i know how to correct the problem would be sending HDMI straight to the TV and optical to reciever. Please help if you have fixed this problem or know how to. Any help would be appreciated.
