Can someone clarify what HD channels you can receive if your tv has a tuner and you don't use BH box. Thanks.

I get all of my locals, plus I get ESPN HD. I don't know how or why, but I get ESPN HD.

It depends on where you live.
I live near downtown and I only get the OTA channels, but not ESPN HD.
My friend lives in New Tampa and he gets the OTA as well as ESPN HD.

So is it worth giving up the BHN HD box?

Jerry,
You should go by your own preference. For me, I mostly want HD programming for sports, therefore, I am satisfied with my OTAs and ESPN HD. I do not subscribe to the HD pak. If you have digital cable, you can have a HD set-top box at no additional charge.

My bill shows I'm paying $6.95 a month for an HD Smartbox. It looks like I could save $84.00 a year by turning it in and bringing the cable directly to my set.

It's not just the smart box savings, it's the entire HD programming you would save on, roughly $25 a month. If you are simply local specific (and can get ESPN to boot, the investment for the HD antenna outweighs what you would pay BHN.
