1394 turned on?

I have a 8300HD box, and I was wondering if anyone has had any luck getting the 1394 port turned on, currently it seems to be disabled.

It's not. It's only enabled on the 1394 version of the 3250HD. You can call and request one if you really want, but it's definitely 5C encrypted on all but the broadcast channels.
