Trying to enjoy my favorite show this week on ABC and had to deal with 1/4 of the screen covered by a very annoying Severe Thunders Storm warning. What made matter worse is they knew it was annoying so they removed the warning during the commercials, so they wouldn't bother their advertisers!
I emailed generalmanager@abcactionnews.com who knows if Bill Carey actually gets that email, but I had to do something.
Next time i will just download it off a.b.hdtv instead from an affiliate who actually cares about it viewers, more than promoting their weather service. I suppose it could be worse they could steal bandwidth away from their HD feed for a dedicated 24/7 weather feed that no one watches.

Believe it or not, he does get the email.

The broadcasters have been criticised in the past when they didn't issue a weather warning and a tornado pops up. I think they are moving towards excessive warnings to cover their asses; same thing for the NWS. I don't have a weather-alert radio, but I imagine they would wake you up about half of the nights during the rainy season here.
In a similar vein, many of the cable channels like FX have enlarged their logo-bug to steroidal proportions, and are zooming in animated promotions on the lower 25% of the screen during the middle of the program, some of which have atrocious noises associated that interfere with and distract from the normal program audio. I expect them to eventually take over the lower part of the screen with ads, like a website. They need to be reminded that we are paying for those channels.

Yes, these things are move annoying. I agree with what Floyd said, but they really are going overboard with it. I would think displaying the notice for maybe 2 minutes every 15 minutes would be plenty.
And that crap with the logos and promotions is getting ridiculous!! On documentary-type shows, the logos often cover text that is relevant to the show, which is annoying. Is there an "I hate logo bugs" web site?

Here's one called "Kill the Bug". I only find one page. Maybe there's more to it?
