Check out the soon-to-be-released MIT MDR-200 (http://www.digitalconnection.com/Products/Video/mdr200.asp). Some nifty features. Most cool are:

the 2 RF inputs (cable and antenna),
the scaler which should allow all inputs to be scaled up to 1080i, so I can leave my TV on DTV,
the 2 Firewire ports on the output for direct digital connection to a recording device (i.e., PC) or TV.The price is less than I paid for my current STB. All I need now is a little lightning storm.

FYI, the box ships on Nov 3.

I wonder why they focus on the fact that this has a scaler. All the STB's scale and deinterlace, and pretty well I may add, right?. It took a bunch of tinkering and an Athlon 2400+ with Dscaler to come close to the 720P output of the Samsung t160STB. It also does better than the Farjouda DCDi chip in the Samsung DLP set I've got which really surprised me.

My STB does not have an NTSC tuner. This is what I really want: a STB with both NTSC and ATSC tuners. And, it would have inputs for DVD, XBOX, etc. Oh ya, don't forget QAM (is that right) for cable. Everything gets scaled to 1080i. I realize that scaling a low rez pic to higher rez does not improve the resolution... I just want everyting coming into one input. This would also let me (finally) calibrate my HD inputs with my Avia disk.

I don't know which ones do this, but I can assure you mine doesn't!

Yep, that is my dream receiver. Looks like the perfect thing to mate to a tuner-less flat panel.

Based on the specs, I would think this will fall close to $1000. The "highly styled chassis and extruded aluminum front panel" are gonna cost ya. This thing is definately targeted at the big plasma crowd. If I could only sell my TV for what I paid for it...

It is basicly the same as the integrated tunner that comes in the new Mitsubishi TV's
