I didn't see game 1, but was surfing tonight, and noticed that although it IS in widescreen now, the picture quality doesn't really seem to have improved compared to the SD baseball last week.
Shouldn't the quality look as good as a DVD?
Does it on your set?
In fact, when comparing the baseball player faces to the bud light/message in a bottle ads, the clarity of the faces looked the same to me. I cannot even read the name of the pitcher from the camera in center field - I would think that if this was a DVD I would be able to.

I agree, I have also thought the same thing about Fox shows. They don't look as good as DVD's. To make it worse our local Affiliate upconverts to 720p, so it should look as good as an upconverted DVD, but it doesn't.
The worst part is that my wife loves the shows on Fox more than the other network.
Not to mention I have a hard time picking it up with my Antenna.
They need to turn up the power over there.

the only thing i remember watching in fox widescreen is 24 - and i guess i've seen 24 or 48 of those.
that always seemed very clear to me - never knew or thought about them upconverting the signal to 720p, that has never mattered to me as my projector and/or HiPix card handles anything it gets.
i'll try game #3 to see if there are any changes from the other venue.

This might be a good topic to bring up on AVS.
Why doesn't "Fox Widescreen" have the same PQ as DVD?

I think clearly Fox widescreen is inferior to most DVDs. Also what makes this World Series difficult to watch is the sound effects Fox uses anything they flash something on the screen such as the score bug. In terms of the matchup...its basically unwatchable to me...
