Here's my situation. I'm getting a new HDTV (Sony kp-46wt510) and know nothing about what I'm getting and what to expect (I'm 34 years old in case you're wondering and a HDTV illiterate male). I currently have BHN digital tier. My viewing habits are I depend on FOX, CBS, NBC and ABC. Will I get these channels in HDTV? If not, when will these channels be available in HDTV? How's the quality of the HDTV channels? Any other BHN channels broadcasting in HDTV? Any hints, suggestions, pointers to guide me through this? By the way, I was refered here through Home Theater Spot web site. Those guys are great and really know their stuff but unfortunately don't know about my local area's cable service. I REALLY NEED YOUR HELP!!!! Thanks in advance for ALL and EVERY bit of help you're willing to give me! :-)
P.S. I am wandering around the forum and checking posts for answers.

Here is a link to all the HD channels in the Tampa area, and what services you need to receive them.

You can watch all your network tv except NBC with BHN.
Fox is in EDTV, not HDTV, but BHN carries that channel too.
The pictures quality of BHN is identical to DirectTV and Over the air.
Some people have problems with the HD boxes, but I don't have any that I find worth mentioning.
Read that first link, and then let me know if you have anymore questions.

Unless you already have the Pace550 box, you'll need that from BHN when you get your new TV. There should be no charge for the swap, at least I didn't have to pay anything so I can only base it on my experience. Once you get it, you'll need to decide if you're going to hook it up using the component or DVI (if your TV has a DVI input). I personally went with the DVI for my Philips. If you go to the manufacturer's site http://www.pacemicro.com/products/products.asp?id=550 you can learn how to set it up for your TV, 'cuz it's a pretty fair bet that the BHN "tech" won't have a clue how it works or how to set it up  The HD channels are beyond description, seriously. It's amazing how things in the far off distance are just as in focus and clear as the things in the foreground. You'll love it. My wife says I have spoiled her and ruined regular TV for her 8)

djkilla,
Send me a PM (private message) with the name on your cable account, the address, and a daytime phone number, and I'll have someone from the correct Bright House office call you to discuss your options.

FYI &BTW, Greg works for BHN in Orlando, so don't worry about to whom you are giving that info he's requesting.
Also, in addition to the list that bdraw referenced, you do now get CBS on 610 in HD.
The HD offering on BHN are:
ABC (628)
CBS (610)
FOX (613)
PBS (605)
DISCOVERY HD (690)
PAY CHANNELS:
HBOHD (700)
SHOHD (701)
INHD1 (703)
INHD2 (704)

Wow! I knew I came to the right place when I needed help. Seriously, you guys ae great!
**Greg - I'll contact you the closer it gets to getting the HDTV (approximately 2-4 weeks, maybe sooner!).
Ok techies and gurus, I'm planning on connecting video from the Pace-550 box to the HDTV using DVI. My progressive DVD player's video will be connected using component cables to the Pace-550 box in hopes of being able to upconvert the 480p signal to 1080i (any comments?). Should I just connect the component video cables from the DVD player directly to the HDTV?
Now for audio. I'll be using 5.1 channel cables directly out of the progressive DVD player into my home theater system. The HDTV I'm a little confused on. **I want to be able to watch the tv using the tv's audio and when I want, turn on the home theater system when desired** Do I connect my digital audio cable from the Pace-550 box to the home theater and then route another digital audio cable to the HDTV *OR* do I connect the digital audio cable from the Pace-550 box to the HDTV and then to the home theater?

The answer to your question probably lies in this thread (http://tampahdtv.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=40&start=0&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=&sid=38d09155a5943acac6306acf649fcd6f). I think the final answer was NO, the Pace box does not upconvert. However, the pace website has the manual available, so check it out.

If you have to hear DVD audio from the TV: If your TV only has 2 speakers, just connect the DVD to the 5.1 receiever AND the TV. Use the composite or Svideo outputs from the DVD to the TV. No loss there. But you have to mute the TV when the 5.1 is on.
I would not connect the audio from the DVD to the TV at all... I can't imagine ever wanting to hear the DVD audio from the TV speakers. You might consider wiring your DVD video through the STB and the audio ONLY to the 5.1 receiver. That would be my choice.

Well, I think I may have confused a few people on the audio hook-ups. The DVD player is resolved by connecting the audio directly to the home theater system. What I would like to do is be able to have the option of watching tv normally with the built-in speakers *OR* power-on my home theater for 5.1 sound using BHN cable (NOT DVD, like I said the DVD audio is resolved). The following is what I need to know:
1) Do I connect my digital audio cable from the output on the Pace-550 box to the home theater then another digital audio cable from the home theater to the tv?
or
2) Do I connect my digital audio cable from the output on the Pace-550 to the tv and connect another digital audio cable from the output of the tv to the home theater.

I ran the RCA's from the pace to my TV for audio and the digital out of the Pace to my receiver.

Thanks FTBoomerIII! I don't know why I didn't think of this in the first place. The regular stereo cables to the tv and the digital cable which is for home theaters to begin with straight to the receiver. Thanks again and sorry for making things so complicated. I guess the rule 'keep it simple stupid' (KISS) really does apply.

No problem djkilla, that's why we're all here. There's always something else to learn. I've ony been into this HD thing for 6 months and everything I know I've learned from these boards (here and AVS). The people in these communities are eager to help. A few months from now, you'll be answering these question for the newest round of neophites.
