I had someone call me last week from Synovate on behalf of Verizon FiOS. They wanted me to complete an on-line survey. In doing so, they would send me $10.
The main purpose seemed to be related to discounts – Basically they wanted to know if they offered more discounts for certain items if I would use the reduction to purchase/rent additional boxes or upgraded equipment or services.
They offered varies levels of discounts from $4 to $7 per month off FiOS TV and wanted to know if I would turn some or all of that into renting an additional box, upgrading one or more of my boxes (from SD to HD), going from a box to a DVR or possibly the Home Media DVR. It also involved purchasing more service (a sports pack or movie pack…etc).
This gives me the impression that even though they are raising prices next year, they might be thinking about giving discounts for certain combinations of hardware and programming.
