I was supposed to have the DVR box installed for my new HD TV. When the BH installer arrived he didn't have the correct work order so installed the Pace DC550.

THIS afternoon I am scheduled to have BH back out to install the DVR. I assume this will be the SA8300. I am not really that interested in recording, but it seemed logical when I placed the original order.

Question: For picture quality, would I be better off to keep the 550?

PS: In my area, BH uses contract installers. The guy who was here seemed unsure of himself to say the least. Even managed to knock out my Roadrunner. I had to show him how to reset.

In my personal opinion I believe the Pace box is better. Since you have the Pace box and they are going to swap it then you can decide for yourself. See if you can see the difference while the BHN tech is still there.

Agree w/ Bschneider. Some people tell me the 550, some tell me the 8300HD, so try for yourself.

Overall, I'd recommend the 8300HD.. cause once you go DVR, you never go back... (somehow that phrase seemed much more clever in my head..)
