I was just reading over at AVS that NBC is transmitting DD5.1 yet our local affiliate almost never tansmits DD 5.1. Why is that? I seem to remember them having 5.1 at some point.

Just this past week my B&K Reference 50 preamp has been defaulting to stereo mode on on OTA channel 08-01. Is anyone else having this same problem. It is only happening on this channel, all the other OTA channels as well as the Dish Network channels default to PL II or DD 5.1. I have posted the questions asking if something is wrong with the preamp, but now I wonder if it is the station broadcasting in stereo. Thanks for any advice.

I recorded Saturday Night Live (12/31) and it was in DD 5.1 (it was a repeat). So they have the capability to pass the signal. However, all the other shows I've watched lately have been in stereo. Either SNL is the only show they do in DD 5.1 or they aren't passing the signal. There is a small chance that something changed over their (new equipment?) and they will begin more DD 5 .1 in 2006. Let's hope for the best and that they deliver more in 2006.
