View Full Version : CBS adn ABC dead for days now...
The last week I have not been able to receive CBS and ABC, which oddly enough were my strongest channels before. When I do the scan and try to set the channels up, I'm getting 2 physical channels for CBS and 2 for ABC, when I only used to get 1 for each. Could this be the problem? Are these channels interfering with each other? I live in New Tampa (Cross Creek and Morris Bridge). Fox comes in great, but I really miss watching college football on CBS and lost in ABC... Some help would be really appreciated.

Hi, I'm right down the road from you around morris bridge and chancey rd. I watched cbs and abc today. You might check your antenna if you have an outside one since we have been getting alot of wind. I have also noticed 2 physical channels like 2 10-1 one is blank and the other is good. I just thought maybe it was directv testing the new hd locals channels (just my guess).
Good luck,
Chris

What exactly are you seeing?
I recored Alias and CSI last night so the stations didn't have any problems.
Edit: Alias wasn't on but it did record the Charlie Brown Special.

Do you have the H20 receiver?

Nope, no H20 yet but I have seen 2 channels with the same channel number like 28-1, 10-1. One channel is just blank and the other is the normal channel.

ok. you can get two channels with the same channel number if you manually input the channel number and then scan for new channels or it may be the opposite I think.

I have it right now, keep in mind that this morning I reset my receiver. I have 2 channels with 13-1 as the number. One is the normal 13-1 digital channel via my ota and the other 13-1 says 13-1 and is looking for a digital channel but it has no picture and says searching for signal. Kind of weird, keep in mind that my receiver is doing weird things so I am waiting for the new h20.
Actually, I just checked my guide and I have 2 of everything it looks like, 3-1,3-2,3-5,8-1,8-2,8-3,10-1,13-1,22-1,28-1,32-1,44-1.
I called directv today and talked to tech support and they said they could get me a replacement receiver for $49 and would probably be a h10 or I could wait until the hd locals are lanched here in Tampa and just get the upgrade for $99 which would include the h20, the 5lnb dish, and they would come out and hood it all up. So I thought that was the way to go.

Since you have D*, then more than likely you don't need to scan for the channels since D* automaticaly sends you the channel mappings based on your zip code. All you have to do is make sure that your zip code is inputed in the receiver. I would clear your receiver and re-input the zip code and do nothing else. BTW what receiver do you have?
You will be able to get the H20 in two more weeks. That is when Tampa is scheduled.

I have the samsung 360 receiver.
Well... i checked again, and what's happening is this. I'm getting 2 physical channels (24 and 16) in which both are getting 16-1,-2,-3,-4. However, 24 was the physical channel i was able to receive CBS from. I think something similar happened to ABC. Could USF (physical 16) be transferring on both channels and screwing up my reception. I'm with a good ol' antenna on top of the tv. never had problems before. kidna pissed i'm only getting fox and wb now...

Getting WB is an acomplishment in and of itself...
But I would be upset without ABC and CBS...
