Nice article in todays Tampa Tribune regarding Verizon TV service.
Looks like they're trying to do an end around like they did in Texas, and go right to Tallahassee for a state wide contract.

Well, I went and looked at the Keller product offerings. Price seemed similar for like offerings although the packaging is different and they do offer ESPN2 HD and NFL HD which BHN has not gotten around to. They also offer them for free not for extra like BHN. The deal buster for me is no HD DVR. No way I do anything without one.

Verizon does have an HD DVR and it costs 12.95/month total and includes all the HD channels not counting the premium HD movie channels which you must order the premium movie channel to get its HD channel. Verizon for 11 bucks a month for the movie pack gives you TMC HD and Starz HD plus Starz and Encore On Demand which are just the ones that BHN doesn't offer. You also get Showtime HD as you know.
Edit...The HD DVR they are using is a Motorola DCT-6414 and yes I did say 6414 because its a new model not on the Motorola website that was provided just for Verizon. I will post the link to the PDF for this box because the whole 6400 series boxes are exactly the same expect that the 6414 has a few Verizon specific parts but the workings and connections are exactly the same. Also Verizon will fully support and activate the firewire ports on their HD DVR boxes.

I read Bschneider's news item dt Dec 06, "Verizon starts TV service today" which reported the start of Fiber Video in Temple Terrace. Since apparently I cannot post a reply to that news item, I decided to post it here!
I know VZ did a public demo in Wesley Chapel area earlier this summer, but did not see that. I would like to see a demo now but am not sure if its available. Any ideas?
