OK, so I just found this web site, very nice and informative. While browsing the forum I saw some posts about a "Pace" box. I currently have the ExplorerHD box. I didn't see much explaination on the forum of what this Pace box was so I called BHN.
The rep told me that there was no difference between the Pace box the the ExplorerHD box... Well I can see just from reading the user guides posted to the forum there are many differences.
The rep also told me that they don't advertise or promote any features of new boxes that get. Just goes to prove that they have very poor marketing savvy.
As we all seem to have the same experience by "stumbling" across new HD stations.
Look forward to using this great web site!

Hi Ron,
glad to have you aboard.
Stop by the "Introduce Yourself" thread in the General section.
So, when I went to pick up my box at Regency,
my wife did not come out with a new remote.
The rep inside said literally "NO, you don't need a new remote. They are both HD boxes,"
I even called tech support while in the parking lot and the guy told me I could use the old remote but we "might need to do some reprogramming"
When I get home without the new remote, I realize I have no # key to press to activate the menu. Granted, I only needed to set it to 720p and never change it, but others, depending on their setup need to access the menu more freq. Without the remote, I needed to press the button on the box itself then the old remote worked, thankfully!
Anywho, the box IS different and depending on your TV, you may benefit from stretching that it can do PLUS the DVD passthru to save a component input on the TV.
BTW, how did you find this site?

ron, I would stick with the explorer box for now, the pace is a little buggy now. Plus the PQ is better through that box on the analog stations. There still waiting for updates from PACE!!
No and if I was BHN I wouldnt avertise that pace box unless it was working perfectly..

I think TW and now BHN have had a history of poor customer service and customer relations. There seems to be no in-company memos or updates on anything so when you call them 10 times you could easily get 10 different answers to the same question. But why would BHN change their ways? We, the loyal customers are the ones who constantly get the shaft and we gladly pay for it each month.

Shoot, that stinks about the Pace being buggy and not as good as the Explorer HD. I just stopped by the Drew street office and picked it up to take home tonight.
If I stay with the Pace, can BHN send the software updates or do you think they'll just update the new boxes they receive and just not tell us customers there are updates and to trade our boxes in?
I was hoping that being able to select the 16:9 ratio and the stretch/zoom mode would improve viewing on a wide screen set.
Jaymer, I found this site just doing an "tampa hdtv" in Google.

I have had no problems with my pace box. The only issue I have ever heard about is the macrovision out the s-video.
I like the stretch modes and don't watch SD so maybe it is just me.
Yes I am a HDTV snobb, if it isnt hd I am not going to watch it.
(except the bucs of course)

The only problems I've had with my two pace boxes is loosing the channels above 100 about once every couple weeks...have to reboot....but that has happened with all the cable boxes I have had.
It was guideless for a day or so a week for a month or two after I got it but that hasn't happened in over two months.

software updates are done automatically, you wont know they have been done unless your box crashes due to one of them. I just think the analog looks better on the SA than the pace but it has better features for sure.

hey millerman...any word from that guy you know that does the updates for the dvr boxes?
The number one problem i have with it is the lack of recording options....it either needs a way to set it to record form time A to time B on a specific channel and be able to choose what days of the week it records at that time every week........
or it needs to be able to tell when a show is already recorded so it doesn't record all 4 replays of that show every weekday making me run out of recording space after a couple days if I don't get around to deleting the 20 or so duplicate recordings.
The SD video on the analog channels was bad on the SA box and is even worse on the PACE box. I split the incoming signal and go direct to the tv for analog channels.
