For those of you who do a lot of time shifting via VCR please periodically remind the Tampa Bay OTA stations to correct (reset) their time clocks when you notice they display the incorrect time. I utilize the Samsung T-165 STB which locks onto the clock of the HD station you are about to record.
This past weekend Ch 8-DT was off 5 minutes while Ch 3 (PBS) analog was off a few minutes. It can be done as CH 10-DT was right on.

stations are required to keep their clocks set to UTC - uniform time code +/- the time difference from GMT.
Call the stations and inform them that their time clock is off. Remember that stations are at the mercy of the programming providers for their feeds though.
NBC last week time shifted some programming by 5 minutes. Made VCR people go nuts - thank goodeness TIVO knew about it.

I e-mailed both Ch 8 and Ch 3 and also posted on the AVS Forum. I couldn't find an appropriate e-mail link (engineering?) for either station so I hope my mail gets to the right people.
Even a couple minutes off really plays havoc when recording HD with the T-165. I lost the NBC shows Friday evening at 8:00PM and 10:00PM although it did record Fox at 9:00.
The reason I ask others to notify the offending stations is the hope that with enough "reminders" from the viewers the stations will better monitor their clocks.
I really wanted to see BOOMTOWN. Darn.

This was addressed in a recent review of the new Zenith hd pvr. Seems to be rather common, they suggested it might be best to disable the auto clock set and set it yourself.

Great Idea. However, the T-165 does not allow manual clock setting. When it appeared on the market it was the only STB that allowed HD recording via firewire to the MITS and JVC 30K D-VHS VCR's (not counting 169TIME modified HD Receivers).

Tampa NBC Ch 8 still hasn't adjusted its time clock. I had e-mailed them twice; no reply. I don't understand.

Email the main customer service address, and tell them about the problem, and explain how no one from engineering will return your emails.
I finally gave up and set my own clock.

I hear you, but that is not possible with the Samsung T-165. That is why I have spent so much time on this thread.

Ch 8 finally got with it and corrected its clock. Thank you.
