I have had a TON of issues with my FIOS TV account.

But get this one - today I called up to add a TV box. Pretty simple thing right?

Nope.

I received what I suspect is a load of crap. According to them - they cannot process my request or provide me with a box for "2 weeks" because of some "fix" they have to do to their system. There is no physical location to pick up a box.

The mysterious problem (which could not be described to me) prevents them from accessing my account. The supervisor CLAIMED that no one in my area could get a box or TV service until this is resolved.

Quite frankly, I'm getting real tired of this company. But, they've got me. I want their service because of the nfl network, espn2 hd and espn u. Plus, the far superior SD picture on my HDTV.

If BHN could get their stuff together - they could easily win the war with Verizon - at least as far as I'm concerned.

That's ironic, because I fell I get much better customer service from Verizon than I ever did from BHN.

And, the service it self, Verizon is certainly much better. With BHN I got constant dropouts, pixelization and other problems.

The only "bad" about Verizon is the hard drive on the DVR is too small. But, since the last firmware update several months ago it has been working very well and reliably. However, I am still going to consider the TiVO series 3 when it is released. Although I hear the price is going to be $800 + $12 per month.

Perhaps Verizon will offer the TiVo as an add-on option.

How about this...I cancelled FIOS because of the crappy SD picture I was getting, BHN was much better, and the HD is identical...I REALLY REALLY wanted to keep FIOS but they could not fix the problem...

Anyways, after 2 weeks of trying, they said I would not be charged and they'd come get the boxes...I even made the rep repeat 2 times that I would not be charged...And guess how this story ends?

I was charged, AND, they have made 2 appts. to pick up the boxes and never showed up...they are just wasting away in my garage!

Needless to say I have not paid them a nickel...A shame because I thrilled to death with FIOS internet and phone

Maestro I have to say I am afraid that I might be headed the same way. I like the Fios channel lineup and on deamnd better, for the kids, but the SD is horrible. I am going to get them out here to re-wire the tv and if that doesnt work I am going to get brighhouse out here to see if they can win me back. I have a brand new 1080p Sony LCD that takes a crappy signal and really shows the flaws in a bad signal. HD has been good but not great.

Stub,

How did it work out for you? When I called Brighthouse, I just said I am willing to come back if you match the price. They said no problem and did it.

Though I have heard of some people getting the cold shoulder from BHN. Meanwhile, there is no comparision at least on my 3, brand new HDTV's. The FIOS and BHN HD are identical, and the BHN SD picture blows away the FIOS. Even my wife notices it and she never notices anything!

Maestro -

In all fairness, I think you mean that the Fios SD picture YOU were getting is inferior to the BHN SD picture.

I had BHN for a long time - and on the same TV. The FIOS SD picture is far far better than BHNs. So are the music channels.

For now, I won't go back to BHN because of the above and because of ESPN2 NFL Network ESPNU.

I am getting pretty upset at Verizon myself. Friday, they cut off all my service, internet, TV and since I was VOIP my phone. No warning, no nothing just suddenly gone!. I called, did the phone dance it was especially bad because I did not show as a customer so the magic voice answer process would not let me get to anyone but sales.

I finally got to tech support, no answer as to why the turned me off. He admitted it was a mistake and transfered me to someone in orders to create a new order to put me back in. I had to go thru the whole dance, credit check, etc for them to create a new order to get my service back. The lady called me back an hour or so later and said it was sent to tech support and I should be up in an hour or so. Well, it was a work day, I got busy and I never heard from them. I checked after dinner and still no service.

I called tech support again. The guy found my order, it had been put in to activate on 9/18 instead of 9/8. No problem losing everything for 10 days right?!

He said he would try to get it fixed then but decided that he needed one department to do something that was not available until the next day. So he told me to call back the next morning and they should be able to install it. I told him that this was not a problem of my creating and they could reinstall without my calling. He checked with his supervisor and they worked it out.

About 11:30 the next morning I got a call from a tech saying they thought it was all done could I check it. Well TV was working, internet did not until we recycled the router. I then had to work with him to get my email and subaccounts back. Of course any emails that were out there when they disabled were gone and anyone who sent us anything had it bounce. Nice huh? Finally got it all working about 36 hours after they turned it off. No explanation as to why it was turned off.

Called on Monday and asked for a credit, still could not get an explanation as to what happened but they gave me an almost $100 credit on my bill. This is the second time they have turned me off for their problems (see note on voip thread for the first one).

One more strike and they are out. I like the TV better and the internet is faster but none of it is any good if it won't stay up. The one tech told me that it takes 14 departments and systems to put the whole package in your house and keep it going. They just cobbled this thing together and when it has problems they can't figure out why or how to fix it.
