NewsChannel 8 in 16x9?

Just noticed today at 5 that NewsChannel 8 is broadcasting in full 16x9 on 8-1 unstretched. Looks great! Are they using HD cams in the studio? Anyone got the details on this?

I noticed it too. It happened a week or so ago. I think they just did a S T R E T C H .

I think the other stations should follow suit. It may be just stretched upconverted SD, but it is a hell of a lot more pleasing to the eye.
