Slow NewsGroups

I had my FIOS internet service for over a month now and love it. Soooo much faster than Roadrunner. My only gripe is that newgroups and way slower compared to Roadrunner that was definately faster when it came to dling from newsgroups. Why is this? Anyone have similar experience?

I see the same thing. It's like there NewsServer is hooked to a 56k modem.

Have you called to complain? I haven't had the time.

I would expect xfers from their own news servers to be close to 15Mbps through put, since it should be on Verizons local network.

If you check the verizon newsgroup you will find a lot of complaints about slow service. They seem to have too much load on two few/small servers. It seems to have gotten slower in the past few weeks for me. They do seem to do a better job in getting all the posts however than BHN.

Im thinking of moving from NTL to ZEN..... newsgroups awful on NTL.

Would anyone like to pass on their experiences of newsgroup access on ZEN - specifically alt.binaries newsgroups?
